On Friday, Israeli occupation forces invaded the town of ath-Thaheriyya, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank’s southern part, and abducted an elderly Palestinian man, Bajis Abu Sharkh, along with his son Ahmad.
The invasion and abductions took place after the soldiers stormed their homes and ransacked it, part of a broader campaign of incursions across the southern West Bank.
Local sources reported that Bajes and his son are shepherded and were on a grazing land close to an illegal Israeli colony in the area.
The sources added that illegal Israeli colonizers, accompanied by soldiers, also vandalized livestock enclosures in a neighborhood in the town, cutting barbed wire fences surrounding sheep pens belonging to local residents.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces stormed the “Halal” livestock market in the al-Fahs area of Wadi as-Somman, south of Hebron city. Soldiers interrogated farmers, traders, and market-goers, inspecting their identity cards and confiscating a sheep from one of the stalls.
The Halal market is a vital economic hub for livestock trade in the region, held every Friday and attended by farmers and merchants from across the West Bank.
The invasion disrupted commercial activity and heightened tensions among vendors, many of whom rely on the market for their livelihoods.
These actions form part of Israel’s escalating campaign of repression and economic sabotage in the occupied West Bank, where military invasions, colonizer violence, and land seizures continue to undermine Palestinian life and infrastructure.
In addition, the soldiers invaded Qusra village, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, before stopping and searching a car in the eastern area of the village.
In related news, the soldiers invaded the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, and abducted a Palestinian from his home. The soldiers also installed roadblocks while paramilitary colonizers continued the violations across the governorate.
In the early hours of Friday, Israeli occupation forces invaded the village of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank’s central part and opened fire on a group of Palestinian youths, injuring one, in addition to occupying one home.
