On Thursday night, Israeli occupation forces invaded the town of Beit Lid, east of Tulkarem in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.

Local sources stated that the military vehicles accompanied by infantry troops invaded the town, patrolling its main and side streets while conducting extensive searches and inspections.

The added that the soldiers stopped passing vehicles, inspecting them and checking passengers’ identification cards.

In a related incident, the soldiers destroyed infrastructure for a newly paved road connecting the villages of Nazlet Issa and Qaffin, north of Tulkarem. The road had just been completed on Thursday by the village council of Nazlet Issa.

Local sources reported that occupation forces invaded the road with their vehicles after construction was finished, seized the contractor’s equipment, detained the workers, and then proceeded to bulldoze parts of the project, deliberately damaging its infrastructure.

This violation appears to be an attempt to prevent urban expansion in the village under the pretext that the area is classified as “Area C” of the occupied West Bank, where Palestinian construction is prohibited.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli army continued its military offensive, destruction and  abductions for the 116th consecutive day in the city of Tulkarem and its refugee camp, as well as for the 103rd day in the Nur Shams refugee camp, amid escalating violence and heavy military reinforcements.

In recent days, Nur Shams refugee camp has witnessed a large-scale demolition campaign, destroying more than 20 residential buildings in its main neighborhoods.

Nearby buildings were also damaged as part of Israel’s broader plan to demolish 106 structures in both Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps to open new roads and alter their geography.

Israeli forces continue to seize homes and residential buildings in Nablus Street and the adjacent northern neighborhood, evicting residents by force and converting these structures into military outposts, some of which have been under occupation for more than two months.

The ongoing military assault has so far resulted in the killing of 13 Palestinians, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant.

In addition, dozens have been wounded or abducted. The offensive has caused widespread destruction, affecting infrastructure, homes, shops, and vehicles due to systematic demolitions, arson, and looting.

This escalation has also led to the forced displacement of more than 4,200 families from Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps, over 25,000 people.

More than 400 homes have been destroyed, while 2,573 others have sustained partial damage. Israeli forces have also sealed off entrances and alleyways with barriers, turning the refugee camps into isolated zones that are nearly devoid of life.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli soldiers and paramilitary colonizers have killed 981 Palestinians, including 199 children, 21 women, 15 elderly individuals, one journalist, and two medics, while injuring at least 7,000 others, including children and women, across the occupied West Bank.
