Israeli occupation forces suppressed a nonviolent student protest on Sunday in the Masafer Yatta area of Hebron in the southern West Bank, preventing children from reaching their school for the seventh consecutive day.
Khalil al‑Hathalin, Director of Public Relations at the Yatta Education Directorate, stated that the protest was organized by the Directorate and attended by residents of the village to denounce the ongoing denial of education for 51 students at Um al‑Khair School.
He said the gathering aimed to highlight the continued obstruction of students’ right to access their classrooms.
Al‑Hathalin added that Israeli forces, accompanied by police dogs, blocked students and residents from expressing their protest and obstructed their movement toward the school, extending the measures that have disrupted the educational process for a full week.
He noted that Masafer Yatta has witnessed a sharp escalation in violations targeting schools, teachers, and students, including the pursuit of educators, threats of abduction, and repeated assaults — all part of broader efforts to restrict educational presence in the area.
