Israeli forces suffered casualties on Saturday after Palestinian resistance fighters ambushed one of their units operating in the northern part of the besieged and destroyed Gaza Strip.

Hebrew sources said that two occupation soldiers were killed and five others were wounded on Saturday afternoon in the al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Hebrew website Hadashot Hamot reported that an Israeli tank was destroyed after the detonation of a crude explosive device followed by a guided missile in the eastern part of Gaza City.

It added that military helicopters evacuated injured soldiers, including critical injuries, to hospitals inside Israel, after a “serious security incident occurred in Gaza.”

Hebrew media reported that the army announced the death of a “tracker” officer identified as Ghaleb Suleiman al-Nasasra, adding that a female officer and two soldiers were seriously wounded in the northern Gaza Strip.

Ma’an News reported that at least 847 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the occupation army’s military aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

In related news, the official spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas, Abu Obeida, announced that the body of one of their officers was recovered on Saturday, while others remain missing.

Abu Obeida added that the slain and missing officers were tasked to provide security for the Israeli-American captive, Edan Alexander, captured by the resistance on October 7, 2023.

Since Tuesday, contact has been lost with the crew responsible for guarding the captive US/Israeli soldier, the location and conditions of whom remain unknown.

“We are trying to protect all prisoners and preserve their lives despite the brutality of the aggression, but their lives are in danger due to the criminal bombing operations carried out by the enemy army.” – Abu Obeida

“The occupation is lying about its inhumane treatment of prisoners, and is fabricating false testimonies from former prisoners, with the aim of inciting resistance and covering up the scandal of its killing of a number of its prisoners, causing the continued suffering of the rest.” – Abu Obeida
