Acting Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Joyce Msuya voiced a plea to the nations of the world on Saturday to force Israel to end its assault on the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in northern Gaza, in which over a thousand people have been killed in the past two weeks – including families and hospital patients burned alive in tents on the grounds of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Jabalia.
Just today, seventy civilians were killed in a new massacre in northern Gaza.
Msuya said that the news from northern Gaza is horrific, as Palestinians continue to suffer unspeakable horrors under the blockade imposed by the Israeli forces.
In a statement issued on Saturday evening, Musuya added that people in Jabalia are trapped under the rubble, paramedics are prevented from reaching them, and tens of thousands of Palestinians are being forcibly displaced, as basic supplies run out.
She pointed out that hospitals crowded with patients were bombed, calling for an end to these atrocities, in accordance with international humanitarian law, and the protection of civilians, the wounded, the sick, health care workers and health facilities.
She stressed the need to respect international humanitarian law, and Israel must comply with the interim orders issued by the International Court of Justice .
This follows a UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory on October 11, in which the Commission found that Israel has perpetrated a concerted policy to destroy Gaza’s healthcare system as part of a broader assault on Gaza, committing war crimes and the crime against humanity of extermination.
UNICEF issued this statement yesterday:
“#Gaza is the real-world embodiment of hell on earth for its one million children. And it’s getting worse, day by day, as we see the horrific impact of the daily airstrikes and military operations on Palestinian children.” – @1jameselder, @UNICEF pic.twitter.com/JTL4a32Duq

"We have strikes going on through the night.
We have people burnt alive in their tents.
We have people being killed while they sleep.
And then, in the morning, children being vaccinated.
Well, what's the fate of these children tomorrow?"
