Israeli soldiers based at al-Matahin checkpoint, north of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, fired rounds of live ammunition at hundreds of residents attempting to cross it, one resident was seriously injured.
A medical source at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, reported that resident Adel abu Khader, 23, sustained a gunshot injury in his stomach.
Khader was operated and transferred to the intensive car unit, and is currently in a serious condition.
Dozens of Palestinian residents were injured, several others killed, in similar incidents at Israeli military checkpoints in the Gaza Strip, especially in abu Holy and al-Matahin checkpoints, since they are located on Salah Ed-Deen road which separates the northern Gaza Strip areas from the south.
Monday 18, July, 2005, a youth identified as Raghib abdul-Rahman al-Masry, died at al-Aqsa Hospital in Dir al-Balah after the soldiers fired at hundreds of residents trying to cross abu Holy and al-Matahin checkpoint.
At least five residents were injured.
