A home made Qassam shell hit the Israeli Negev town of Sderot, Thursday morning causing no damage or casualties as it fell in an open area near the town Israeli sources reported.
This is the first time a Qassam shell is fired since the Palestinian factions committed to ensure a calm pullout from the Gaza Strip.
This shelling comes shortly after Israeli special Duvdevan unit killed five Palestinians in Tulkarem. Some Palestinian factions vowed revenge.
Earlier on Thursday, an explosion was heard in the northern Israel resulted apparently from a shell fired from the southern Lebanon area.
Israeli sources said the shell hit a small town called Margaliot, caused no casualties, but caused damage to a chicken coup.
No Lebanese group claimed responsibility for the shelling, yet a Lebanese security soruce said, two shells were fired, but only one landed in Israel. The second, apparently misfired, landed in Lebanese territory.
The Hezbollah party, main resistance group in Lebanon, said it has no information about the incident.
The United Nations peacekeeping forces in the southern Lebanon spokesman, Milos
Struger, said the agency has launched a probe in the incident and called for both parties to ‘exercise restraint.’
