A wounded Palestinian detainee succumbed, on Sunday, to gunshot wounds inflicted on him by Israeli forces in July, in the city of Tulkarem in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.
In a statement, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) announced on Sunday, that the young man, Zaher Tahseen Youssef Raddad, 19, succumbed to his serious wounds in the Meir Hospital, inside of Israel.
The statement added that Raddad was shot and seriously injured during an Israeli military attack in the city of Tulkarem and the Tulkarem refugee camp on July 23, 2024.
It added that the army used the young man as a human shield during the attack, when soldiers placed him on the front of one of their military vehicles.
Despite the young man’s serious injuries, unstable condition, numerous surgeries, and several court sessions held in absentia, the occupation authorities continued to detain the young man up until the time of his death.
The Detainees Commission and the PPS held the Israeli occupation responsible for the death of Raddad and asserted that the army committed a “complex crime” against the detainee, who is a citizen of the village of Saida, northeast of Tulkarem.
According to the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS), “With the martyrdom of the wounded prisoner Raddad, the number of martyred prisoners and detainees after October 7th has risen to (23) whose identities have been announced, in addition to dozens of detainees from Gaza who have died in the occupation’s prisons and camps, and the occupation continues to conceal their identities to this day.”
In related news, Israeli forces shot and killed Ahmad Mohammad Khalil Al-Anteer, 18, before dawn on Sunday, after opening fire towards his vehicle near the Al-Jalamah military roadblock, north of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.
