The Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad expressed frustration over the ongoing Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank.
Fayyad's comments came during an interview with AP in his Ramallah office. The Palestinian PM added that he will continue to work towards enhancing the living conditions of the Palestinians in the West Bank.
Israel declared on Monday that it going to build over 800 new settler housing units near Jerusalem, constructing another violation of International Humanitarian Law, which illegalize moving civilians of the occupying country to the occupied terretories.
Premier Fayyad, who took office after President Mahmoud Abbas fired the Hamas Government in June 2007, said that last year was the one of the worst years ever for the Palestinians because of the division between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The Hamas Movement won the Palestinian legislative elections of 2006, after which it formed a government comprised of its members and affiliates. A very tight blockade was imposed on the Palestinians resulted in a serious economic crisis in the Palestinian areas. The blockade was ended after Hamas government resigned and a National Unity government was formed. This government was dismissed few months later after the bloody clashes between Fatah and Hamas in the Gaza Strip which ended by Hamas assuming control over the Gaza Strip in June 2007.
Fayyad also told AP that he is willing to talk to Hamas if the later give up control over the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile sources in Ramallah said that Fayyad is planning new ministerial reforms soon.
