Dr. Nabil Sha’ath, member of the Central Committee of the Fatah party, met on Wednesday evening with delegates of the rival Hamas movement, and also met with Fatah leaders and leaders of other factions.The visit is considered a positive step towards ending the ongoing rift between Fatah and Hamas, and achieving national unity.
Sha’ath met with Hamas political leaders Khalil al-Hayya, Ayman Taha, legislator Ashraf Jom’a, and Dr. Salah Abu Khatla, in charge of National Relations in the Fatah party.
He received a warm welcome and held talks on the current issues and the negative impacts of internal divisions.
He met with leaders of different factions at the headquarters of independent national figures.
Yasser al-Wadya, representative of the independent figures described the meeting as comprehensive as it includes representatives of all factions in Gaza, and added that the talks included a discussion of the Egyptian document for Palestinian national unity and a number of issues regarding the Gaza Strip.
