Israeli sources reported Saturday evening that a number of settlers were wounded during a scuffle that took place with Palestinian residents in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem. The scuffle took place after a fundamentalist settler cursed the Muslim prophet , Mohammad, and insulted local residents of the neighborhood.
The Maan News Agency reported that a number of settlers were wounded during the scuffle that started when a settler cursed the prophet while the residents where in the protest tent.
The Israeli police arrived at the scene and sided by the settlers. A Police officer said that cursing the prophet and cursing religions is not a crime according to the Israeli law and decided not to conduct any arrest or even open an instigation.
The settlers were granted court orders to occupy Palestinian homes in Sheikh Jarrah while the displaced residents installed protest tents near their homes.
