Five Palestinians were killed and 14 injured in the Gaza Strip during the latest 24-hour reporting period, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported Sunday. The casualties included four newly killed Palestinians and one person who died from injuries sustained earlier during the Israeli offensive.
Israeli forces continued attacks across the Gaza Strip despite announced “ceasefire” understandings, highlighting the arrangement’s fragility and the continuing danger faced by Palestinians across the enclave.
Local reports said Israeli artillery and gunfire struck locations across the Gaza Strip. In northern Gaza, artillery targeted eastern Jabalia refugee camp, while the Palestinian Red Crescent reported that two Palestinians were injured by Israeli gunfire.
In Gaza City, local reports said Israeli warplanes opened fire near the Tuffah neighborhood and that gunfire also came from Israeli military cranes stationed east of the area.
In central Gaza, artillery targeted eastern Al-Maghazi refugee camp, and military vehicles opened fire toward eastern Al-Bureij refugee camp.
In the south, Israeli tanks fired shells near Al-Habash farms, south of At-Tina Street in Khan Younis, while additional shelling struck northwestern Rafah and intensive warplane fire was reported southeast of Khan Younis.
Gaza’s Civil Defense said three-year-old Tayyem Saed Mahmoud Hamdan died from injuries sustained in an Israeli attack on a group of Palestinians behind Al-Banna Bakery in western Deir al-Balah.
In a separate account concerning attacks in the area, the Israeli military claimed it killed three members of the Al-Qassam Brigades, saying two were killed in Khan Younis on Saturday and the third in Deir al-Balah on Sunday. The claim was not independently verified.
The attacks followed an announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump on July 30, 2026, of what he described as a new framework intended to advance the second phase of the Gaza roadmap. Daily Israeli ceasefire violations nevertheless continued across the territory.
Beyond the casualties recorded during the reporting period, Palestinian institutions also highlighted the continuing uncertainty surrounding people reported missing or forcibly disappeared.
Marking the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, the Palestinian Ministry of Justice cited an April 2026 estimate that more than 11,200 Palestinians had been reported missing or forcibly disappeared since October 2023. The figure included people believed to be beneath rubble and detainees whose whereabouts had not been disclosed.
In a joint statement marking the international observance, Palestinian prisoners’ organizations said Israeli authorities have used enforced disappearance as a systematic policy against hundreds of Gaza detainees for a third consecutive year, while the fate and places of detention of many remain unknown.
The organizations said that withholding detainees’ names, locations, and health information, while denying contact with families, lawyers, and rights groups, removes legal safeguards and creates conditions in which torture, ill-treatment, medical neglect, and other abuses can occur without oversight or accountability.
The International Committee of the Red Cross said thousands of families in Gaza still do not know the fate of missing relatives, with some awaiting answers for nearly three years. It said Gaza’s forensic capacity remains limited, no facilities are available for DNA testing, and searches for and recovery of bodies require specialized equipment that is not readily available.
Since the “ceasefire” took effect on October 11, 2025, the Health Ministry has recorded 1,318 Palestinians killed, 4,375 wounded, and 815 bodies recovered from previously inaccessible locations.
The ministry added that, since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army has killed at least 73,454 Palestinians and injured more than 174,486.
The ministry also said many victims remained beneath rubble and in areas inaccessible to rescue teams, while ambulance and civil defense crews continued to face major obstacles in reaching affected locations.
