Schoolbooks stained with blood scattered across the street next to the body of the 6-year old girl, Wafa Akila, who was killed by an Israeli drone strike Sunday while on her way to her first day of school.
Wafa was being driven to school by her father, Yousef Akila, when an Israeli drone targeted their car and fired a missile, killing both father and daughter instantly.
The bombing took place near an intersection west of Gaza City.
This is just the most recent of thousands of Israeli violations of the ‘ceasefire’ that went into effect October 10, 2025 — despite the fact that Palestinians have not violated the ceasefire. Israel continues to bomb the Gaza Strip with complete impunity on a daily basis.
Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement have resulted in the death of 1,344 people and the injury of 4,464 others as of Saturday, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.

In addition to the drone strike that killed 6-year old Wafa and her father, Israeli forces also shelled the area around Abu Asi school in the Shat refugee camp, west of Gaza City.
A number of injuries were reported as a result of that shelling.
In the same context, occupation artillery shelled the east of Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza, and the northeast of Al-Bureij camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The death toll from the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Gaza Strip has risen to 73,651 confirmed killed and 174,592 injured since October 7, 2023, while the Strip’s hospitals received 17 injuries during the past twenty-four hours.
