Two Palestinians were injured on Wednesday when Israeli troops opened fire on them as they collected material for concrete near the northern Gaza Strip city of Beit Lahiya, while another eleven were injured during a series of Israeli artillery strikes, three of them children. On the same day, Egyptian authorities opened the Rafah Crossing to traffic in and out of Gaza for the second consecutive day.
Hatem Abdul Qader, the Fatah official in charge of Jerusalem affairs, announced on Wednesday that 28 Jerusalem area municipalities had decided to boycott and refuse money from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in response to the American veto of a resolution condemning illegal Israeli settlements at the UN Security Council last Friday.
The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) started on Tuesday a three-day workshop aimed at enhancing lawyer’s abilities to manage freedom of expression cases, with a particular focus on media freedoms
as government crackdowns on protesters in Libya continued on Wednesday, PLO Executive Committee member and legislative council member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi expressed her support for the Libyan people in their demands for freedom, democracy and human dignity.
