Shortly after starting to evacuate the unauthorized outpost of Ulpana, the Israeli authorities approve the construction of 180 new settlement units, meanwhile a Palestinian youth is shot near Maale Adumim settlement, these stories and more, coming up, say tuned.
Israeli media sources reported that Israeli settlement guards shot and wounded a Palestinian man near Maale Adumim settlement east of Jerusalem Wednesday afternoon.
The wounded, whose name remains unknown, was shot in the stomach and was taken by Israeli ambulance to the hospital for treatment. Israeli police claim the man rammed his car into a police squad car about 100 meters from the guard’s booth.
The police also said he was shot while trying to snitch the weapon of one of the guards. Israeli police and military closed the entrance of the settlement and intensified military presence in the area.
On Wednesday at dawn Israeli soldiers invaded several areas in the occupied West Bank, broke into and searched dozens of homes, and kidnapped and detained several residents.
Media sources in Jenin, in the northern part of the West Bank, reported that the army invaded the nearby towns of Kufr Ra’ey, Sielet Al-Harithiyya and Al-Yamoun, kidnapped two residents, and interrogated several others.
In Al-Yamoun, the army broke into the home of former political prisoner Ibrahim Taher Nawahda, and interrogated him for several hours.
In Hebron, in the southern part of the West Bank, the army kidnapped Romel Asafra, after breaking into his home in Beit Kahel, north of Hebron. Asafra, a student of the Hebron University, is one of dozens of students holding, at the university campus, a protest against political arrests.
Local sources reported that Asafra received a phone call from an Israeli security officer, who told him that he needs to hand himself in to the military within three hours; but the army invaded his home shortly after the call and took him and a relative of his named Wisam Asafra.
Israeli military forces also kidnapped three residents in Hebron, on Wednesday at dawn, and claimed that the soldiers found empty shells of Kalashnikov ammo in the vicinity of the home of one of the kidnapped residents. Troops also kidnapped two children, identified as Hamza Jibreel and Ahmad Sabah; when the military broke into their homes and searched them.
The Construction and Planning Committee in Jerusalem approved the construction of 180 units for Jewish settlers in the Armon HaNetziv settlement in East Tel Peut, near Jerusalem.
Ahmad Sob-Laban, a field researcher in Jerusalem stated that Palestinian residents filed several appeals against the new settlement plan due to the fact that the new structures will be built on privately-owned Palestinian lands, but the plan was approved regardless.
Sob Laban said the appeals stated that after Israel occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967, the Israeli government confiscated nearly 500 acres for settlement use in the Sur Baher and nearby neighbourhoods of Jerusalem.
On Tuesday Israeli officials started removing the illegal Ulpana settlement outpost, built on privately-owned Palestinian lands, close to the Beit El settlement near the central West Bank city of Ramallah. Israel vowed to build hundreds of new housing units in the West Bank in exchange to relocating the settlers.
