Palestinian detainee Nahar Al Saadi, from Jenin, is now in his first week of hunger strike in protest of ill-treatment from the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) and their denial of a visit by his mother. The Palestinian Prisoners Club stated Wednesday that Nahar, in solitary confinement for a year and half, now, continues his open-ended hunger strike until the resumption of his mother’s visits.
He explained to the club’s lawyer that his mother is very sick, adding that he has escalated his hunger strike and stopped drinking water. IPS responded to this by taking away his television.
Al Ray Palestinian Media Agency notes that Nahar is sentenced to life-imprisonment four times plus 20 additional years. He has been in solitary confinement since May of 2013.
