The Egyptian News Agency reported that Egypt and the Palestinian Authority in order to reunify the families which were separated after Rafah was divided into an Egyptian and Palestinian part.
Senior P.A officials demanded modifying the borders by unifying Rafah remove and building which were leveled by the British Mandate, before Israel occupied the area.ÂÂ
Basem Abu Sharif, who served as the late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat, said that modifying the borders between the Gaza Strip and Egypt will have a positive humanitarian impact and reunite hundreds of families.
After Israel occupied the Gaza Strip following the six-day war in 1967, hundreds of Palestinian families in Rafah were separated by the artificial borders which divided Rafah into two parts; a Palestinian and Egyptian.
