Palestinian legislator and member of the Fateh Revolutionary Council,
Dr. Nabil Shaath, said on Monday in Ramallah that there is no
difference between a National Unity Government and a government of
technocrats or experts as long as this government is agreed upon by all
factions and managed to solve the current crisis.
Shaath was talking at a press conference held at the headquarters of the Ramattan News Agency.
“The best solution for the crisis is a national unity government”, Shaath stated, “A government based on the current parliament without any changes on the results of the democratic process”.
Shaath added that both governments carry the same agenda, “both will be formed by experts and that there are no disputes on who heads these government”.
Also, Shaath said that the best solution for the crisis is to form a national unity government which is based on the democratic results of the elections and depends on the current parliament.
“A government of experts does not mean a government that is not based on national unity”, he added, “It will be formed by Hamas, Fateh and rest of the Palestinian factions as well as independent figures”.
He stated that Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, met with Hamas ministers at his Ramallah compound, and that Abbas is also holding phone talks with Haniyya in Gaza.
Shaath demanded the Arab and international countries to find a solution to end the siege imposed by Israel on the Palestinians, and to enable them to head for political negotiations with Israel.
“We want to be able to hold talks that would lead to a just solution”, Shaath said, “but, Israel does not even recognize our right to establish a Palestinian state in the occupied territories since 1967”.
