On Monday, the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, met the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, in the German capital city of Berlin. The two leaders discussed the latest updates on the peace process and the German-Palestinian relations. The Palestinian-Israeli peace process has been on stalemate since 2009 as Israeli refuses to halt settlement activity in the West Bank.

A condition set forth by the Palestinian Authority and the U. S administration so peace talks could be resumed.

Abbas embarked on the tour that took him to Arab and European courtiers earlier last month in an attempt to accumulate pressure on Israeli to reinvigorate the stalled peace talks.

Dr. Sa’eb Erekat, head of the Negotiation Department of the PLO, and Nabeel Abu Rudinyah, Abbas’ spokesperson, also attended the meeting in Berlin today.
