The family of Sheikh Hasan Yousef, an elected Palestinian Legislator of the Change and Reform Bloc of the Hamas movement, stated that Yousef is facing a deteriorating health condition in an Israeli prison.Yousef’s wife told the Media Department of the Change and Reform Bloc that her husband was moved to the Hadassah Israeli hospital in Jerusalem to determine the causes of the latest sharp deterioration in his health condition.

She added that this is the third time Israel moves Yousef to hospital, but the family was not given any information about his health condition, due to the fact that they are not allowed to enter Jerusalem and the family has not been able to visit him due to Israeli restrictions.

Yousef is imprisoned under Administrative Detention orders without charges, but he will be sent to court on October 17th; the prosecution will argue for continuing his administrative detention, and the court will be deciding whether he should be released due to his health condition.

The Change and Reform Bloc held Israel responsible for the wellbeing of Sheikh Yousef, and urged the International Community to intervene to secure his release.

Yousef was kidnapped on August 31, 2011, at a roadblock between Ramallah and Nablus cities in the West Bank. His arrest came only a few weeks after he was released from an Israeli detention facility, on August 4, after spending six years in Israeli prisons.
