Monday evening, May 20 2013, Palestinian medical sources reported that several Palestinians have been treated for the effects of teargas inhalation, after Israeli soldiers invaded Bodrus village, west of the central West Bank city of Ramallah. Property damage and fires have also been reported.Member of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlement in the village, Naim Marar, told the Palestinian News & Agency (WAFA) that the army invaded the village from the western side, and harassed several residents while interrogating them, an issue that led to clashes with local youths.
He said that the army chased dozens of youth in the village’s neighborhoods, and fired dozens of gas bombs and rubber-coated metal bullets at them, and at a number of homes.
Medical sources said that dozens of Palestinians, especially the elderly and the children, have been treated by Red Crescent medics for the effects of teargas inhalation.
Marar stated that the army repeatedly invades the village to punish the villagers for their weekly nonviolent protests against the illegal Annexation Wall and settlement, built on privately owned Palestinian lands.
He further said that, over the weekend, Israeli soldiers burnt two cars in the village after firing five gas bombs into each car. The two cars belong to Ahmad Habes Abdul-Karim, and Mousa Ahmad Marar.
The soldiers also fired gas bombs into the local school for girls in the village, the local school for girls, and a local clinic run by the UNRWA; the bombs caused fires in the two schools and nearby farmlands.
A few days ago, four Palestinian children have been injured by Israel rubber-coated metal bullets during clashes that took place with soldiers invaded the village.
The four have been identified as Ayyoub As’ad, Mohammad Naim, Abdullah Ahmad, and Hatem Rashid.
