[Friday, April 4, 2014] Several Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian man in Urif village, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, causing moderate wounds. Settlers uproot hundreds of grapevine saplings in Bethlehem.Medical sources said Mohammad Ahmad Ibrahim, 31, suffered various fractures, and bruises, when a number of fanatic Israeli settlers attacked a group of Palestinian villagers.
The wounded Palestinian was moved to the Rafidia Government-run hospital in Nablus.
The attack was the second in the area in question since last Monday when several fanatic settlers gathered on a main road, hurled stones at Palestinian cars and chanted racist slogans, including “Death To Arabs”, the Maan News Agency has reported.
In related news, several settlers invaded a Palestinian grapevine in the al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem, and uprooted hundreds of saplings, the Palestine News Network (PNN) has reported.
Coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Wall and settlements in al-Khader, Ahmad Salah, told the WAFA Palestinian news agency that the settlers uprooted more than 300 saplings in the Shu’ab area, west of the town.
The land belongs to resident Mohammad Ibrahim Sbeih; the settlers also demolished an old structure in the area.
Salah added that Israeli soldiers arrived at the scene, detained owners of the land, and handed a resident, identified as Khaldoun Sbeih, a warrant ordering him to head to the Etzion military and security base for interrogation.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that, in 2013, extremist settlers carried out more than 399 attacks against the Palestinians, their lands and property, in different part of the occupied West Bank.
It added that the Israeli police failed to indict any of the assailants in %90 of the attacks.
Settler groups are responsible for thousands of attacks against the Palestinians and their property in different parts of the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem.
The attacks include attacking, burning and trying to burn mosques and churches, torching Palestinian crops and farmlands, uprooting hundreds of trees, including ancient Olive trees, breaking tombstones and writing racist, anti-Islamic and anti-Christian graffiti, puncturing tires of Palestinian vehicles, burning cars and many other similar assaults.
The number of Israeli settlers living in various settlements in the occupied West Bank, including in an around occupied East Jerusalem, is more than 500.000, while Israel is ongoing with its illegitimate settlement construction and expansion activities.
Settlements violate International Law, and the Fourth Geneva Convention to which Israel is a signatory.
