On Sunday, the Commission Of Detainees Affairs has reported that a Palestinian political prisoner, held by Israeli under the arbitrary Administrative Detention orders without charges or trial, is ongoing with a hunger strike he started twelve days ago.
In a press release, the Commission said the detainee, Khalil Mohammad Awawda, 40, from the southern West Bank governorate of Hebron, is imprisoned in Ofer Israeli prison.
It said the detainee started the hunger strike on March 3rd, 2022, protesting his arbitrary detention without charges or trial.
The Commission said al-Awawda has several health issues, including inflammation in his spine’s neck and back discs, which emerged five years earlier, and requires surgery and physical therapy.
Al-Awawda, a married father of four, is a former political prisoner held by Israeli for twelve years, including five years under the arbitrary Administrative Detention orders before Israel released him on June 30th, 2016.
He was abducted on December 27th, 2021, and was instantly slapped with an Administrative Detention order.
