Israeli occupation forces issued a new military order on Tuesday to seize 5 dunams and 283 square meters of Palestinian land belonging to the town of Jaba’, north of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank, under the pretext of “military purposes.” The order places the targeted land under military control until 31 December 2028.
According to the order, the confiscated area includes a strip of land extending 725 meters across the locations of al‑Mintar, Ras al‑Marj, and Shu‘ab al‑Ghuzoul.
The Jerusalem Governorate stated that the order is part of a broader plan to construct a new colonial road branching from Route 60 near the Jaba’ military roadblock and running toward the illegal Annexation Wall adjacent to the “Neve Yaakov” colony built on Palestinian land.
The Governorate emphasized that Israeli military land‑seizure orders have become a central tool for imposing new facts on the ground, enabling the expansion of colonial infrastructure and the consolidation of control over Palestinian territory.
Such orders are routinely used to widen the network of roads serving illegal colonies, further isolating Palestinian communities from their surroundings, and restricting their movement.
It added that these road projects are not limited to what Israel labels as “military needs,” but are directly tied to long‑term plans for de facto annexation and the integration of colonies into occupied Jerusalem at the expense of Palestinian land.
Although framed as “temporary,” these military orders are frequently renewed for years or replaced with new orders covering the same areas, effectively transforming short‑term land seizures into permanent control.
This pattern has been documented across the central West Bank, where bypass roads, military corridors, and settlement access routes have expanded steadily, linking major colonies into a unified metropolitan bloc surrounding occupied Jerusalem.
