Israeli occupation forces shot and killed a Palestinian civilian Sunday evening in the Ma’an area east of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, amid ongoing violations despite the declared ceasefire.
Medical sources confirmed the fatality and reported that the victim was unarmed and attempting to inspect property damaged during previous bombardments.
The shooting marks a serious breach of the ceasefire agreement ratified on October 10 and follows reports of sporadic gunfire and military provocations in former combat zones.
The killing occurred as Israeli drones and artillery continued to target the area, obstructing rescue efforts and violating the terms of the ceasefire. Witnesses reported sustained gunfire throughout the day, and ambulance crews were unable to access the neighborhood due to shelling and road destruction.
Medical sources confirmed that the cumulative death toll from Israel’s assault on Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, has reached 67,806 killed and 170,066 wounded, with 124 bodies recovered in the past 24 hours, including 117 pulled from beneath the rubble, and 33 injured individuals admitted to hospitals.
Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that more than 9,500 people remain missing, presumed buried under collapsed buildings. The majority of those killed are women and children, and vast areas of Gaza have been rendered uninhabitable.
According to Al Jazeera and TRT World, the official death toll reflects only direct casualties. Independent estimates suggest the real number may be significantly higher due to starvation, disease, and siege-related deaths, which remain uncounted.
The ceasefire agreement, based on a 20-point framework proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, includes provisions for a hostage-prisoner exchange, withdrawal of Israeli forces, and unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid. However, Israeli attacks have continued in violation of the deal, prompting condemnation from mediators and international observers.
Gaza’s Health Ministry also confirmed that at least 2,615 Palestinians have been killed while attempting to access humanitarian aid, with over 19,177 wounded in such incidents since May 2025. These deaths occurred near distribution sites operated by the U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, often under live fire.
The situation remains dire, with diplomatic efforts struggling to enforce the ceasefire and facilitate relief operations. International monitors have warned that continued violations could undermine the truce and delay critical recovery efforts.
