Illegal Israeli paramilitary colonizers launched a new wave of attacks on Al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah, on Tuesday, setting fire to Palestinian farmland.
Update: Several colonizers assaulted Palestinian photojournalist, Essam Rimawi, causing several injuries, before local medics rushed him to a hospital.
Media sources reported that the colonizers stormed the eastern outskirts of the village and burnt agricultural land and wheat crops in Marj Seea’ area, before the residents confronted them, forcing them to retreat.
Earlier in the day, colonizers set fire to farmland between Al-Mughayyir and Abu Falah, also northeast of Ramallah, while on Monday, they torched agricultural fields near Kafr Malik, a neighboring village.
Also Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces uprooted olive trees in Sinjil town, north of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank’s central part, as part of ongoing illegal land confiscation policies in the occupied territories.
Days ago, colonizers burned over 200 square meters of land in Marj Sabe’ plain, between Al-Mughayyir and Abu Falah, under Israeli military protection.
Colonizers’ attacks in the region have been escalating, particularly after colonizers established a new illegal outpost in the area.
In the past month alone, colonizers carried out 231 acts of vandalism and theft, targeting vast areas of Palestinian land.
Their actions resulted in the destruction of 1,168 olive trees, affecting Ramallah (530 trees), Nablus (300 trees), and Salfit (298 trees).
Reports indicate a rise in violent colonizers’ incursions, with newly established illegal outposts fueling further displacement of Palestinian communities.
In Bruqin, west of the central West Bank city of Salfit, the colonizers torched homes and vehicles, injuring at least eight Palestinians.
Meanwhile, in Jericho, in the northeastern West Bank, the colonizers cut off water supplies to Palestinian villages before launching physical assaults on residents.
In Hebron, a group of colonizers illegally occupied Palestinian olive groves, planted Israeli flags on Palestinian-owned land, and grazed their livestock on stolen property.
The Israeli government’s colonialist expansion policies continue to facilitate these land seizures, with plans to construct 13 new settler towns across the occupied West Bank.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
