For 70 consecutive days, Israeli occupation forces have continued their large-scale offensive on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, located in the northern part of the occupied West Bank. The ongoing assaults have involved bulldozing homes, setting them ablaze, and converting others into military outposts.
On the second day of Eid al-Fitr, the Israeli military deployed additional reinforcements, including armored vehicles, into the city and its refugee camp.
Early Monday morning, Israeli forces invaded several neighborhoods in Jenin, including Khallet Al-Souha and Jabal Abu Thaher, storming and ransacking dozens of homes. Using loudspeakers, the military ordered residents of Jabal Abu Thaher to evacuate their homes immediately.
In the Jenin refugee camp, Israeli forces continued to carve out and expand roads, altering the camp’s geography to facilitate the movement of tanks and heavy armored vehicles. Home demolitions persisted, accompanied by further military reinforcements surrounding the area.
Jenin’s mayor, Mohammad Jarar, declared the refugee camp uninhabitable due to the extensive destruction caused by the Israeli aggression.
He reported that over 600 homes and much of the camp’s infrastructure had been destroyed.
Jarar also noted that the Israeli military had imposed a comprehensive siege on the governorate, which is home to approximately 360,000 residents.
Early Monday, Israeli forces invaded the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, imposing a curfew from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Armored vehicles and tanks were stationed in the Jabal Al-Zakarna area, while soldiers stormed and searched several homes, assaulting, detaining, and abducting many residents.
The frequency of abductions in Jenin Governorate has sharply increased, with Israeli forces conducting near-daily operations in the city and its surrounding towns and villages.
The ongoing aggression has displaced approximately 21,000 residents from the Jenin refugee camp, many of whom have sought refuge in Jenin City and nearby villages.
The military campaign, now in its 70th day, has resulted in the killing of 34 Palestinians, dozens of injuries, and numerous abductions.
In related news, Israeli occupation forces have continued their aggression on the city of Tulkarem, located in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank, and its refugee camps for the 64th consecutive day. This includes 51 days of intensified invasions and destruction targeting the Nur Shams refugee camp.
On Saturday evening, the General Authority of Civil Affairs informed the Palestinian Health Ministry that the young man, Ahmad Qasem Suleiman Bani Odeh, 22, succumbed to his wounds while in the custody of Israeli forces.
