Shireen Iraqi, a lawyer with the Palestinian Detainees Committee, stated that the prison administration in Gilboa Israeli detention center has issued an order preventing all defense attorneys from meeting with the 35 hunger striking detainees.
Iraqi said that the detainees are striking in solidarity with Bilal Kayed, Mohammad Balboul and all detainees who are all holding open-ended hunger strikes, protesting being held under arbitrary Administrative Detention orders without charges or trial.
She also stated that the hunger-striking detainees are held in solitary confinement in Section 6 of Gilboa’ prison and that the soldiers confiscated all of their belongings, including bed covers.
The prison administration is also giving the detainees warm water to drink, in addition to imposing sanctions and a 600 Israeli shekels fine on each of them, in addition to denying them the right of family visits for two months.
The lawyer added that the punitive measures are carried out in direct violation of International Law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, and aim at attempting to pressure the detainees into stopping their strikes.
