A Palestinian man was forced to destroy his new home, on Sunday, in at-Tur town in occupied East Jerusalem, the Wadi Hilweh Information Center (Silwanic) reported.

Muhammad Dweik, recently married, completed the construction 6 months ago, and moved into the 70 square meter home, which he built next to his family’s house.

The Municipality of West Jerusalem ordered the home to be demolished, under the common pretext of building without a permit.

Dweik appealed the decision, however the municipality denied the appeal, so he and his family members began to demolish the home in order to avoid paying the unreasonable fines imposed by the municipality if they carry out the demolition.

Muhammad Dweik – at-Tur town

I demolished the house with my own hands, with the help of family and friends… to avoid paying new fines and violations. I have not yet finished the payments for construction and furniture.”
