Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee Saeb Erekat, on Friday, blamed the recently announced US Mideast plan as the reason for the latest escalation in violence.

Erekat rejected US allegations of incitement and linked the latest escalation of violence to US President Donald Trump’s plan, dubbed the “deal of the century”, which in fact would cement Israel’s longstanding policy of permanent occupation, colonialism and apartheid against the Palestinian people.

In a tweet, Erekat said the “main source of violence is the Israeli occupation & its colonial-settlement plan. Mr. Kushner has enabled Israel to move ahead with further annexation/colonization. But he blames President Abbas, because according to those like him, our mere existence/rights & International Law are the problem.”

Since President Trump, alongside Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu released the details of the so-called ‘deal of the century’ on January 28, 3 Palestinians have been shot and killed by occupation soldiers during the surge in demonstrations across the West Bank rejecting the plan.
