NEW YORK, Thursday, August 8, 2024 (WAFA) – The United Nations said that the killing and displacement of Palestinians by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank continues unabated.
Farhan Haq, the spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, explained in press statements that the latest report issued by the United Nations organizations in the region indicated that the killing of Palestinians, their displacement, the destruction of their homes and the destruction of infrastructure continue unabated in the West Bank occupied by Israel.
He added that the occupation forces killed 16 Palestinians, including two children, and injured 56 others in the West Bank between July 30 and August 5.
He pointed out that the colonists also carried out more than 20 attacks against Palestinians during the same period, which resulted in injuries and damage to property.
The UN spokesman said that the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza hinders the ability of relief organizations to respond to emergencies, causing “mass losses.”
He pointed out that the report of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs highlighted that “repeated evacuation orders in Gaza lead to an endless cycle of displacement.”
Haq stressed that it is “increasingly difficult” for Palestinians to get the humanitarian assistance they need under these circumstances, pointing out that epidemic diseases are spreading in Gaza due to polluted water, overcrowding, and inadequate hygiene conditions.
