Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), member of the political bureau of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), warned on Thursday of the Israel plan to move its main police headquarters in the West Bank to E1 area in East Jerusalem.

The police station will be on Palestinian annexed lands belonging to residents of Al Ezariyya (Bethany) and Abu Dis, in east Jerusalem.

Khalid said that this plan aims at annexing more Palestinian lands in the area and turning it into a new settlement project in order to link Maali Adumim settlement with Jerusalem.

He added that any person who follows the news about the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations should not be surprised by this decision, especially since the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, repeatedly said that his government might carry this plan and expressed interest in expanding large settlement blocs in the West Bank, such as Maali Adumim, Ariel and Kfaz Atzion.

The plan, Khalid said, aims at totally isolating East Jerusalem from its surrounding Arab areas  in order to exclude it from the final status peace talks.

“What is the use of these peace talks if Israel continues to delude the international community and continues to ignore the international legitimacy”, Khalid stated, “Israel ignored the calls of the Quartet Committee and continued to expand and construct settlements, especially in Jerusalem area”.

Khalid also called for halting all peace talks with Israel and for filing an appeal to the International Court of Justice against the ongoing Israeli violations against the residents and their lands, and the ongoing Israeli violations to the Road Map Peace Plan.

At the end of his statement, Khalid said that the US Administration is conspiring with Israel and refuses to practice pressure against it in order to stop its illegal settlement activities.
