On Friday, Israeli soldiers shot six Palestinians, caused many to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation, and abducted two siblings during a funeral procession in Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron city, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.
Local nonviolent activist against the Annexation Wall and Colonies in Beit Ummar, Mohammad Awad, said the soldiers closed the iron gate at the town’s main entrance to prevent a funeral procession of a deceased Palestinian from reaching the graveyard.
The incident led to protests in several parts of the town, especially in the Aseeda area, before the soldiers attacked the Palestinians with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets, and gas bombs.
Awad stated that the soldiers also occupied rooftops of several homes and used them as firing posts.
Medical sources said the soldiers shot three Palestinians with live rounds in their legs, in addition to shooting three children with rubber-coated steel bullets in their legs, and causing many Palestinians to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.
Furthermore, the soldiers abducted Mohannad Mershed Awad, 23, and his brother Majdi, 18, from their homes in Aseeda.
Also, dozens of soldiers invaded the Tiwana village in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, before searching and ransacking many homes, causing damage.
