Updated: On Monday, Israeli occupation forces killed two Palestinians, and injured several others, in Khan Younis and launched heavy fire and naval bombardments in Rafah, in Gaza’s southern and southeastern areas, killing two Palestinian and injuring others, on the 17th day of “ceasefire.”
An Israeli drone targeted a group of Palestinians inspecting their damaged homes in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis.
Al-Jazeera has confirmed that the attack in Abasan was carried out by an Israeli military drone and that it led to the killing of two Palestinians.
Medical sources have confirmed that one of the slain Palestinians has been identified as Saqer Anwar Qdeih, and added that four others were injured; some of the wounded are in critical conditions.
Simultaneously, Israeli military vehicles opened sustained machine-gun fire toward eastern Khan Younis, while Israeli warships shelled the coast of Rafah.
“We don’t view that as a violation of the ceasefire.”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said Washington is OK with an Israeli attack on Gaza on Saturday that Israel claims targeted an Islamic Jihad member plotting an attack.
