Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire killed 23 Palestinians and wounded dozens more on Wednesday in multiple attacks on tents sheltering displaced families and residential areas across the Gaza Strip, while Israeli forces simultaneously handed over the bodies of 54 Palestinians along with 66 boxes containing human remains through the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Medical teams reported that the fatalities occurred in several locations outside areas under Israeli military control.

In Deir al‑Balah, in central Gaza, an Israeli strike hit a tent on Abu ‘Arif Street, killing 11‑year‑old Ghada Ali Fathi Razayna and her father Ali Fathi Mustafa Razayna, 45. Another strike on the Shati’ Refugee Camp in Gaza City killed Mohammad al‑Habeel Hamada.

Hospitals in central Gaza confirmed additional casualties from an attack on tents sheltering displaced families east of Deir al‑Balah, where two Palestinians, including a child, were killed, and several others injured.

In Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, three Palestinians died when an Israeli helicopter struck a tent in the al‑Mawasi area, followed by a drone attack that targeted ambulance crews attempting to evacuate the wounded.

Later, Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis received three more bodies after Israeli artillery shelled homes in the Qizan Rashwan neighborhood, an area outside Israeli control.

In Gaza City, four members of the Haboush family were killed when artillery fire struck homes on Yafa, Sikka, and al‑Hajar streets in the al‑Tuffah neighborhood.

Medical sources said that 14 of the day’s fatalities occurred in Gaza City, with the remainder spread across the central and southern regions.

The Gaza Ministry of Health reported an initial toll of 23 killed and 38 wounded, noting that rescue teams continue to search targeted areas and that the number may rise.

Later in the evening, Israeli forces transferred the bodies of 54 Palestinians, along with 66 boxes containing human remains, to Gaza via the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The bodies and remains were transported to the Shifa Medical Complex, where teams began processing them according to established forensic protocols and in coordination with official bodies and specialized committees.

The Ministry of Health said its teams are working to document and identify the bodies and remains before handing them over to families.

Human rights organizations continue to demand that Israel disclose the fate of the missing and release all bodies it continues to withhold.

It is worth mentioning that at least 556 Palestinians have been killed and 1,500 wounded since the start of the “ceasefire” on October 11, 2025, with 717 bodies recovered during that time.

Since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, the cumulative toll has reached 71,824 killed and 171,608 injured.
