Palestinian political detainee, Hana Ash-Shalabi continue on her hunger strike for the 15th day, while Israeli troops arrest 12 civilians during morning raids targeting West Bank communities. These stories and more, coming up, stay tuned.
The Palestinian Minister of Detainees, Issa Qaraqie, announced today that his ministry is organizing an international campaign against the Israeli administrative detention and ill-treatment of Palestinian political detainees in Israeli jails.
Meanwhile Palestinian Political prisoners in Israeli jails said on Thursday that they are going to boycott Israeli military courts in protest of administrative detention and ill-treatment by their captives. There are 300 detainees out of 4500 political prisoners that are currently being held by Israeli, under administrative detention.
The recent developments come as political detainee Hana Ash-Shalabi entered her 15th day of hunger Strike. Ash-Shalabi was released last October after spending two years under Israeli administrative detention. Her release in October came as part of the Egyptian mediated prisoners swap deal between Palestinian groups and Israel.
Ash-Shalabi is following the footsteps of detainee, Adnan Khader, who reached a near death condition and organ failure after 66 days of hunger strike. Khader ended his strike last month after Israel pledged to release him in April.
In other news, Israeli soldiers arrested on Thursday at dawn 12 Palestinians in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, and the southern West Bank city of Hebron.The Palestinian Prisoners Society in Jenin reported that a large military force invaded several towns and villages in Jenin district, especially Borqeen, Arraba and Qabatia, broke into and searched several homes and arrested five residents.
Soldiers also invaded Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron, and arrested five Palestinians including two brothers. On Wednesday evening, soldiers invaded Dir Estia town, north of Salfit, and arrested two residents after breaking into, and searching, their homes.
