Welcome to Palestine Today, a service of the International Middle East Media Center, www.imemc.org, for Monday June 24th, 2013.

Israeli troops injure two Palestinian civilians and army fighter jets target the Gaza Strip. These stories, and more, coming up, stay tuned.

Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded on Monday at dawn Beit Ummar town, north of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, kidnapped one resident, and shot two more during clashes that took place after the army invaded the town.

Mohammad Awad, spokesperson of the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements in Beit Ummar, stated that the army invaded the town and kidnapped Ahmad Rashid Sabarna, 19, after breaking into his family’s home and violently searching it.

Sabarna is a former political prisoner who spent 14 months in Israeli prison. His arrest brings the number of Palestinians, kidnapped in the town since the begging of the year to 61, most of them are children.

Awad added that the soldiers fired dozens of rubber-coated metal bullets, gas bombs and concussion grenades at of local youths who hurled stones and empty bottles at them.

Elsewhere A number of masked extremist Israeli settlers attacked on Monday at dawn 22 Palestinian cars in Beit Hanina, in occupied East Jerusalem, and punctured their tires before drawing the star of David on one of the vehicles, and racist graffiti on the front wall of a local home.

The attack took place in Tal Al-Foul area, in Beit Hanina; the settlers also wrote “We Will Not Be Silent”, and drew the Star of David. Local sources have reported that the settlers punctured tires of 22 Palestinian vehicles; 10 of them in one neighborhood, and 12 in a nearby neighborhood in the town.

In other news Israeli fighter jets fired several missiles targeting what the army called “weapons storage facilities” in the Gaza Strip, and another location apparently used as a training center for a resistance group.

The Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, reported that Israeli war jets bombarded two of its centers west of Khan Younis and Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Several missiles were also fired into an agricultural land near Deir Al-Balah, in central Gaza. Furthermore, an Israeli war jet fired missiles into a center that belongs to the Palestinian National Security Forces, in Gaza; damage was reported, no injuries.
