Around 70% of the settlers slated for evacuation under the terms of the disengagement plan will reach agreement with the disengagement administration, Yonatan Bassi, the head of the Disengagement Administration, said on Sunday.
The Disengagement Administration will convene Monday for the first time to discuss initial requests for compensation that have been submitted by settlers.
Bassi also said that judging by conversations he has held with settlers, he believes the evacuation will calmly pass.
‘The settlers are the salt of the earth,.., They are people like you and me who want to remain part of us after the evacuation.’ Bassi said in an interview with Israeli TV Channel 2.
Meanwhile, thousands of Israeli Policemen are set to go on vacation because once the evacuation begins under the disengagement plan they won’t be allowed to leave, Army Radio said early Monday.
