Canada pledged, on Saturday, $9.7M aid to the P.A which to be used in housing projects, scholarships for Palestinian women living in Lebanon, and to improve the situation in the occupied territories.

Canadian Prime Minister, Paul Martin, said in a Press conference with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said that this aid in intended to assist the Palestinians control the situation on the borders, and improve the living conditions of the residents.

Martin added that Canada will dispatch 50 Canadian observers to monitor the legislative elections next July.

Also, Martin said that his government will encourage and support that economic development in the Palestinian territories, form democratic institutions and prepare the infrastructure of a “modern Palestinian State”.
