Israeli settlers attacked on Tuesday at dawn, al-Mawassi area, west of Khan Younis in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
A local source in al-Mawassi reported that hundreds of settlers hurled stones at dozens of homes in al-Farra area in Khan Younis, and chanted slogans calling for expelling the Arabs.
Fayez Shaath, head of al-Quds Society for Developing al-Mawassi, and the media spokesperson of the al-Mawassi Defense Committee, said that he received several appeals from the residents after dozens of settlers gathered in the area, west of Naveh Dikalim settlement and started attacking the homes and residents.
Shaath called on the International Community and the Red Cross to interfere and act against the continuous settlers’ attacks against the residents of al-Mawassi, adding that the attacked significantly escalated their attacks recently as Israel prepares to evacuate the settlements in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Mawassi area in Khan Younis in inhibited by 8000 residents, and was completely surrounded and isolated since the beginning of al-Aqsa Intifada late September 2000.
