A Palestinian security source in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza strip, reported that one resident died when an explosive device went off near him.
A medical source at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, reported that the body of Khaled Khaleel Hamid, 31, was severely mutilated as a result of the explosion.
The Palestinian security initiated a probe in the incident.
Unconfirmed reports revealed that the explosion might have been caused by an explosive left by the army, or a shell fired by the army and detonated sometime after impact.
