Israeli Labor Party Chairman, Amir Peretz, is slated to meet the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, on Thursday, Labor party spokesperson reported.The spokesperson stated that Peretz started a wide diplomatic process with meetings in Morocco and Jordan in an effort to create an axis supporting Abbas, “and make his tasks easier after Hamas’ victory in the Legislative elections.
Also, the spokesperson did not specify the location of the meeting, while Palestinian officials said that it would take place in the West Bank city of Jericho.
Kadima and the Likud parties in Israel have distanced themselves from direct talks with Abbas since Hamas won the elections.
