According to Israeli military sources cited by Haaretz, the Golani Brigade has lost 114 soldiers and officers since the beginning of the offensive, with thousands more wounded.

On the humanitarian front, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated that food stocks in Gaza have dangerously declined over the past 50 days, alongside a severe shortage of essential medicines and medical supplies.

On the military front, a commander from the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, reported that fighters lured an Israeli engineering unit into a pre-rigged tunnel before detonating explosives, causing casualties among Israeli soldiers east of the Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City.

On the political level, efforts to broker a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel appear to be gaining momentum, with renewed negotiations expected to begin in Cairo within the next two days.

A Hamas delegation is set to arrive in the Egyptian capital to discuss a potential ceasefire in Gaza. Meanwhile, Qatari-affiliated Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported that an Israeli delegation has also arrived in Cairo to resume stalled negotiations.

A source stated that the Israeli delegation’s arrival was likely prompted by American pressure, coinciding with growing military challenges facing Israeli forces.

The delegation met with Egyptian mediators from the General Intelligence Service, focusing discussions on Hamas’s latest proposal for a comprehensive agreement.

An Egyptian source familiar with mediation efforts told the Qatari outlet that the Israeli delegation is seeking a breakthrough in negotiations. The delegation arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening and met with Egyptian mediators the following day.

Both sides reviewed recent developments in the war, including a proposal by senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya outlining steps toward a full agreement to end hostilities in Gaza.

According to the source, Israel provided a specific list of hostages it seeks to have released, indicating that the visit was influenced by American pressure. Among other demands, Israeli officials prioritized the release of hostages holding U.S. citizenship.

The source expressed optimism about a potential breakthrough in negotiations in the coming days, emphasizing Washington’s increasing pressure for the release of Israeli captives.

It is worth noting that the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel, which came into effect on January 19, concluded in early March.

The agreement was brokered through Egyptian and Qatari mediation and was backed by the United States, with Hamas adhering to its terms.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reneged on initiating the second phase of the agreement.

On March 18, Netanyahu resumed large-scale military operations in Gaza to appease his far-right coalition partners, resulting in the deaths of at least 1,695 Palestinians and thousands of injuries.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has killed at least 50,240 Palestinians, including more than 15,626 children, 9,807 women, 235 journalists, and 23 medics. At least 116,931 people, mostly children, women, and the elderly, have been injured in the Gaza Strip.

In the occupied West Bank, Israeli soldiers and paramilitary colonizers have killed 963 Palestinians, including 194 children, 21 women, 15 elderly individuals, one journalist, and two medics since October 7, 2023.
