Israeli Forces continued on Sunday, for the fourth consecutive day, the isolation of al-Aghwar al-Shamaleya area in Jordan Valley in the Occupied Palestinian West Bank.
Local sources said that the Israeli soldiers, positioned at al-Hamra and Tayaseer military checkpoints, closed the two roads that link Tubas and al-Aghwar area and banned all access into and out of the area.
Palestinians living in the area have expressed fears that this closure will lead to a permanent takeover of the Jordan Valley, thus depriving Palestinians of their own lands and their main and only source of living. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has stated that his government plans to seize and annex al-Aghwar, Jordan Valley, in the West Bank, to annex it for Israel despite the fact that such a move is a blatant violation of international law.
