Palestinian security sources reported on Tuesday that a Palestinian
security officer was shot and injured by unknown gunmen in Beit Ummar
town, north of Hebron, in the southern part of the West Bank.

The officer was identified as Falih Younis Arar; he was injured in his feet and was moved to al Ahli Hospital in Hebron.

Eyewitnesses reported that three gunmen fired at Arar as he was in his house after the assailants knocked the door and as he was heading towards the door to open it, the gunmen opened fire at him through the window.

Fahmi Shahin, coordinator of the Islamic and National factions in Hebron slammed the attack and called for an investigation into the incident.

Shahin added that this attack “was carried out by lawless vandals who seek to destabilize the Palestinian society.
