The Israeli Central Court in Be’er Sheva rejected an appeal filed by the lawyer of the detained Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Ahamad Saadat, to be removed from solitary confinement. Saadat was demanding to be moved a joint cell with his detained comrades.

Instead of ending his solitary confinement, the judge decided to keep him in solitary for additional six months.

On December 28 2008, Saadat was sentenced to 30 years for his alleged role in planning the assassination of former Israeli Tourism Minister, Rehavam Zeevi.

Zeevi was assassinated at the Al Hyatt Hotel in Jerusalem on Wednesday, October 17, 2001

Israel held Saadat responsible for the actions carried out by the PFLP, which was described as ‘an illegal terrorist organization’.
