The United Nations will accept a ten million dollar payoff by the Israeli government as compensation for the bombing of UN facilities in Gaza during Israel’s invasion one year ago.UN Staff in Gaza told British reporters that they were outraged that the United Nations officials in New York would accept what they called a cheap bribe by the Israeli government.
The local UN Staff, speaking on condition of anonymity, told reporter with the Time of London, that they would not allow themselves to be bought off, to walk away and forget all the damage done by Israel during the Gaza war
On January 15th, 2009, Israeli forces attacked a United Nations warehouse with white phosphorus, destroying tons of food and medicine, and injuring civilians who had sought refuge within the United Nations facilities.
Israeli forces have been accused of attacking United Nations facilities on a number of occasions, both in Gaza and in Lebanon, in direct violation of international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
