Israel paper, Haaretz, reported Thursday that the Israeli Foreign Ministry recently prepared a document stating that the Palestinian Authority will continue its international political campaigns against Israel’s policies despite the launching on indirect talks. The document states that the Palestinian Authority will try to use the talks in order to push the US to practice more pressure on Israel so that it continues settlement freeze after the coming September which marks the end of Israel’s declared freeze period.

It also states that the Palestinian Authority will agree to move for direct talks instead of the currently proximity talks should Israel prove it is serious in peace talks.

Dr. Saeb Erekat, head of the Negotiations Department at the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), stated that president Mahmoud Abbas handed the US Middle East Peace Envoy, George Mitchell, a letter detailing the Israeli violations on the ground.

On Tuesday, Abbas and Mitchell held their first meeting since the beginning of proximity talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Following the Abbas-Mitchell meeting, Erekat held a press conference and said that the Palestinian Authority handed the U.S envoy several letters regarding the situation on the group including Israeli military attacks that led to the death of civilians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
