On Thursday, Day 237 of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the Israeli army intensified the bombing and shelling of various parts of the coastal enclave, killing and wounding dozens of Palestinians.

Despite the constant bombing and the escalation of the offensive on the coastal region, Palestinian resistance factions continued to target Israeli tanks and armored vehicles, and the exchange of fire in many parts of the coastal enclave, especially in Jabalia city, the Jabalia refugee camp, in northern Gaza, Gaza City, and Rafah in the southmost part.

The Israeli army said one soldier was killed in northern Gaza and added that three soldiers were injured.

Media sources said the army fired many artillery shells at homes and buildings in northern Gaza, including Beit Lahia and Jabalia, entire residential blocks, and even centers and tents used by displaced families.

The army also fired missiles and shells at Qleibo, Sheikh Zayed, Tal Az-Za’tar, and the northeastern area of the Jabalia refugee camp, in northern Gaza, causing many casualties.

At least two Palestinians were killed, and many were injured, when the army fired a missile at displaced families near the Tuwam junction, in northern Gaza.

The army also wired and detonated many residential areas in the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, and bombarded the new refugee camp, north of Nusseirat refugee camp, the areas north of Al-Boreij and Juhr Ed-Deek in central Gaza, in addition to the Al-Mughraqa area, east of Khan Younis in Gaza’s southern part, killing and wounding dozens of Palestinians, including women, children and infants.

On the political level, Hamas stated that it will not accept any resumption of the indirect ceasefire talks as long as Israel is ongoing with its war on Gaza and said “If the occupation stops its aggression on our people, then we will be willing and ready to resume the talks that would lead to a comprehensive deal.”

In its response, Hamas said, “We have shown flexibility and positivity throughout all previous rounds of indirect talks, and on May 6 we accepted the mediators’ proposal; however, the [Israeli] occupation has used negotiations as a cover for the continuation of aggression and massacres against the Palestinian people.”

The Palestinians Health Ministry said the army committed six massacres, and added that 75 slain Palestinians and 284 wounded, including dozens of women and children, were moved to hospitals and clinics in the last 24 hours, in addition to the dozens who remain under the rubble or in areas medics cannot reach due to constant bombing and massive destruction of infrastructure.

Israel has now killed at least 36.224 Palestinians and injured more than 81.420, mostly women, children, and elders, in several parts of the destroyed, besieged, and impoverished Gaza Strip, since October 7, 2023.
