On Friday, Day 266 of the ongoing Israeli genocide of the Palestinians in the devastated and destroyed Gaza Strip, the Israeli army bombarded various parts of the coastal enclave, killing and wounding many Palestinians, including women and children.

On Friday night, two children were killed and at least five others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Yarmouk area near the Al-Jazeera Club stadium in Gaza City.

A number of civilians were also injured in an airstrike launched by the occupation forces on the Al-Maghazi camp in the central Gaza Strip. The Israeli occupation forces opened machine gun fire on the tents of the displaced in the Al-Shakoush area and the Tel Al-Sultan neighborhood in Rafah.

The United Nations Rapporteur on the right to health, Tlaleng Mofokeng, said Friday that groups of people were literally exterminated in the Gaza Strip, and that no other expression except “genocide” can be used to describe what is happening.

She told Anadolu Agency on the sidelines of her participation in the fifty-sixth session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, “People in Gaza are trying to survive, and this is the only thing they can really do.”

She said that the psychological health of the people of Gaza has deteriorated and that they are suffering from more serious trauma as a result of the ongoing Israeli bombardment.

The UN rapporteur said: “The inability of hospitals in Gaza to receive medical supplies and essential medicines, and the killing and harassment of health care workers in the line of duty, makes attacks on the right to health even more apparent.”

The army fired missiles and artillery shells at homes in Deir Al-Balah city, in central Gaza, killing at least four Palestinians, including a woman and a child, and wounding many Palestinians, among them many children and women.

The Palestinian Civil Defense said the army bombed its headquarters in the Nusseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza, killing three paramedics and wounding several others.

Furthermore, the army killed at least two Palestinians and injured several others on Rashid Street, in central Gaza.

The army also fired many missiles and shells at several parts of Gaza City, especially the Sheja’eyya neighborhood and Sheikh Ejleen in the eastern and western parts of the city, causing several casualties.

In addition, the army fired many artillery shells at tents for displaced families in two areas, west of Rafah, in Gaza’s southmost part, causing many casualties, including children and women.

Medical sources told Al-Jazeera that eleven Palestinians were killed and more than forty were injured, including many children and women, when the army bombarded the Al-Mawasi area, in the western part of Rafah, where dozens of displaced families sheltered.

On its part, the Israeli army said a soldier from the Nahal Brigade was killed in gun battles in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

It is worth mentioning that UN Women, a United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, stated that a new report by the Integrated Security Phase Classification (IPC) revealed that “Food insecurity affects women in Gaza in multiple ways. UN Women estimates that at least 557,000 women in Gaza are facing severe food insecurity and find themselves facing old and new gender-based vulnerabilities.”

It added that “the situation is particularly concerning for mothers and adult women, who often prioritize feeding others over themselves and report greater difficulty accessing food compared to men, leading many to skip meals or reduce their intake to ensure their children are fed.”

The Palestinian Health Ministry said the army has committed three massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, killing and wounding dozens, including women and children, and added that 47 slain Palestinians and 52 wounded, were moved to hospitals, in less than 24 hours, in addition to many who remain under the rubble.

Israel has now killed at least 37.765 Palestinians, and injured more than 86.429, mostly children, women, and elderly, in various parts of the Gaza Strip, since October 7, 2023.
